As a western teacher with a strong wry sense of British humor, and a playful attitude towards the Western revered attitudes toward success and settlement I find his teachings both insightful and motivating.
I listened to this as an audiobook.. An essential teacher. Many are modern interpretations or anecdotes from his own life which he relates to ancient teachings.
Many will leave you in stitches as he makes great use of humour to get the point across. I am not a Buddhist, but loved this book and the wisdom he expounds. Highly recommended for anyone who sees the two crooked bricks in their wall instead of all the rest that are laid perfectly read the book to In this great little book Ajahn Brahm regales us with often extremely funny Buddhist stories. A few of the stories make reference to earlier ones in the book but as each is a maximum of 3 pages long you can easily flick back and read those too.

This collection of stories kept me acutely interested to garner wisdom, interest and application into my life. In particular, the story that relates to the title, inspires in me that the door of my heart can be opened to many aspects of life, including acceptance and pain.
